I love books. I'm pretty much a nerd who loves a good mystery, so I'm obviously a Gryffindor.
I read the classics and literary fiction, but I still love a good young adult romp.  I have a major guilty pleasure addiction to historical romance, but I really don’t feel all that guilty.

I need more people to read the books that I love, so that we can chat about them!

Welcome to Fostering Bookishness!

Welcome to Fostering Bookishness!  This is something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time.  I love books and talking about books.  I am constantly trying to recruit my friends and family to read the books that I have loved, just to have someone to discuss them with, sometimes with success, sometimes not.  I’m going to be using this site as an outlet to post reviews, chat about bookish news, and generally wax rhapsodic about the written word.

A few things about me, just to start out.

My favorite book of all time is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.  Cliche, I know, but there it is.  It’s hilarious and lovely and I can’t get enough of it.  I read it for the first time when I was 13 and I was hooked.

I generally read fiction.  I will very rarely toss in a biography or memoir, I’m just not very interested, I’d much rather watch it as a documentary.  I also tend to get preoccupied with a particular genre or even sub-genre.  I’ve always had a fondness for mysteries and thrillers, in fact the series that really got me into reading as a child was a mystery series.  More on that later.  Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy, urban fantasy, historical fiction, and historical romance, with a contemporary thrown in here and there.

Check back to find out what I’m loving, hating, or obsessing about!
